Bio-Dry Team Blog

A short description about your blog

How do you react when you realize it’s cleaning day or you notice a large mess someone’s left behind for you? Are you excited about vacuuming or doing the dishes? Or do you sigh under your breath and get a little irritated? I’m willing to bet it’s the latter of the two, if not; I have a job for you at my house. Don’t worry, I’m not planning on throwing anymore awful jokes your way in this blog; though, what I would like to talk to you about is how you view the cleanliness of your house and workplace, which have a direct impact on the environment. Although I’m aware that you not vacuuming isn’t going to have a huge impact on the environment, I’m speaking on another level.

Petroleum based oil stains have a huge impact in terms of pollution to our environment, there are countless problems they can cause globally, and can even ruin simple things like the concrete on your driveway. Cleaning may not be the most exciting thing you can talk about, but it shouldn’t be placed on the back burner of our minds, and when we finally get around to it, it shouldn’t put a damper on our day, it’s incredibly important in our everyday lives, and this can’t be stressed enough at your workplace. Business’ like to keep their buildings clean for multiple reasons, it causes safety hazards for employees and customers alike and the list goes on and on. Another big reason business’s keep sanitation as a high priority is because of representation, you’re not going to go looking for a dirty place to take your family out to eat; though, a common mistake made when cleaning a driveway or parking lot, is people choose the pressure washer, because it’s how it’s always been done, but that’s just it. It’s been done, pressure washing is a thing of the past. Pressure washing is inefficient, messy, and you have to walk a very thin line to keep pressure washing legal (More information on that here).

Bio-Dry is completely revolutionary in every sense of the word, it is lightyears ahead of pressure washing when it comes to efficiency, and there are no legal hoops to jump through, you simply pour the powder, spread it. And go inside, so the groan you always let out when you have to clean will slowly fade away, and return as a light-hearted whistle, and there’s nothing healthier for the environment than Bio-Dry, not only does it dissolve the oil stain and leave your driveway or workplace looking fantastic, it is 100% bio-degradable and has no harmful effects on the environment. We as a whole, need to view cleaning as something different than we have, as something positive. The ISSA have released a video on the views of cleaning, check it out. It might help you get through cleaning day a little easier from now on.

Over the past decade, Bio-Dry has released several great products and services to the

concrete and asphalt cleaning community that have revolutionized the way we clean parking

lots, drive-thru's etc. Bio-Dry has played a major role in the world of petroleum

based stains and those affected by it's unsightly appearances; (We feel your pain, drive-thru

lanes of America.) Though, Bio-Dry has recently went through some changes and have come

to realize it's hard for our customers, you guys, to get hold of our product

if we don't offer you the convenience needed for use in a residential sense. And

we've finally delivered such a product. Introducing Bio-Dry's latest

Waterless Concrete Cleaning product!

1lb waterless concrete cleaner

Its 1lb design makes it no strain in comparison to our 50lb box, and it's quite small

Hit and Run

Posted by: adamconnell in Bio-Dry

As most of you regular readers are aware, Bio-Dry is the leading brand in waterless

concrete and asphalt cleaners, we're renowned for our hard working technicians and our

incredibly efficient products and supplies. Not to mention the 50% spread-rate of our

waterless cleaners over the top competition; although, there's still one problem that exists

with our product, not even our product really, but with every single product or service

dedicated to the same views and goals as us. And that is the “hit and run” mindset most

clients share, people tend to believe that after one application of our product, all problems

should be taken care of. This is the case in actuality, at least at first. After a few weeks you'll

notice the spots are back, obviously it's not the same spots, but new ones left like treats from

your customers in the drive-through lanes at your banks, convenience stores, or fast food

locations, etc.

Overtime, Bio-Dry can make this problem minuscule as it incorporates absorption,

emulsification and bioremediation to help keep those high traffic oil stains to a minimum.

Through these processes Bio-Dry closes or substantially reduces the size of pores in the

surface of your concrete or asphalt, reducing the chances of oil penetrating and staining

your lanes or lots; though, just as you would a pair of jeans, your lanes need to be serviced

or “washed” occasionally (we hope you wash your pants more often than your lanes.) to get

the petroleum based stains out.

Of course, if you have a specific bank (or individual lane) that has low traffic, you

won’t need it to be cleaned as much as some of your high traffic areas, here at Bio-Dry we

want to show our customers that one cleaning a year is not enough to keep your

establishment clean and welcoming, we recommend cleaning your lots an initial amount of 2

to 3 times for the emulsification and bioremediation processes to really kick in, every 2

weeks for the first 3 applications should be plenty enough to close up the pores and rid you

of all residing stains and most future trials your lots should come across. After the process is

completed, only one cleaning ever 4 to 6 weeks should be enough to keep you and your

customers happy!

It's a real hassle, isn't it?

Pressure washing rears it's ugly head into a world of complexities and

inconveniences once again. I just spent the past hour reading this wonderful article about

the procedures you are legally obligated to go through in order to pressure wash a surface,

(such as bank lanes or drive-thru's). It really puts the pros and cons (incredibly vast

amounts of cons I might add) into perspective for someone who cleans previously stated

surfaces for a living.
Wastewater generated by pressure washing contractors must be collected and

disposed of to prevent it from becoming a solute in water that is later converted into

drinking water, failure to comply with this law can result in a hefty fine as well as viability. A

power washing company failed to reclaim it's toxic wastewater in 2009 was given a fine of

$10,000 along with 5 years probation.

Dust and other airborne chemicals have become a large concern for the

Environment Protection Agency (EPA) as of late because it lowers the air quality of

surrounding areas and it contributes to nonpoint source (NPS) pollution.

When the airborne chemicals and debris settle at a gas station for example, they can be

dislodged by rain, high winds or any other type of heavy moisture and pushed into

freshwater sources such as lakes and streams. Nonpoint source

pollution is actually the MAIN reason that approximately 40% of surveyed rivers, lakes,

and estuaries are not clean enough to meet basic uses such as fishing or swimming. (Read

more about NPS, here.)

Stop pressure washing today, it's too hazardous and inefficient to continue, Waterless Concrete and Asphalt cleaning is the future, and Bio-Dry is first in the class. If you have any questions regarding Bio-Dry's Waterless Concrete and Asphalt Cleaners. Make sure to

Easy come, easy go.

Just one week ago, I had the honor of visiting the state of Georgia (one of the most

beautiful States I've ever visited.) to service roughly 50 banks. It was my first personal

experience cleaning for Bio-Dry, and theres only one word I could use to describe cleaning the

banks, "easy". I often found myself singing along to our radio while cleaning the bank lanes, it

felt much more like a "spring sweep" then cleaning up oil spots.

Specifically after we had laid the product onto the concrete or asphalt. The broom did most of

the work, I simply walked back and forth while the product spread (at an incredible rate, i

might add) throughout the entire problem area.

If you've overlooked ordering Bio-Dry for fear that the application process was too

difficult or complicated, then let me be the first (but definitely not the last) person to tell you.

It's as easy as it gets. And the satisfaction of getting rid of those disgusting oil spots once you're

finished is well worth the little effort you put forth. Or of course, you could call Bio-Dry and I

might show you how easy it is myself!
